PUNTERS can now place their bets on Prime Minister David Cameron donning a kilt before Thursday's independence referendum.

Bookies are offering odds on a range of unlikely events, including an appearance in Scotland by North Korea leader Kim Jong-un, whose regime reportedly backed the Yes campaign.

The Evening Times visited a branch of Ladbrokes in Glasgow city centre and the Prime Minister wearing a kilt before September 18 was priced at 25/1.

A 66/1 accumulator was also offered for racehorse 'Scotland' winning the St Leger today and a Yes vote in the referendum.

There were longer odds of 500/1 for Kim Jong-un to visit before polling day.

Other bookies are also offering 'Referendum Specials' to punters interested in politics.

Paddy Power put the chance of Scotland retaining a AAA credit rating after independence at 5/1.

The same bookie said there's a 6/1 chance of Scotland having its own currency after a Yes vote.

Odds of 1/3 were given for Scotland using the pound and entering into a formal currency union if there is independence.

Meanwhile, William Hill had odds of 3/1 on Scotland using the Euro in an independent Scotland and 25/1 on another currency.

Opinion polls suggest the result could go either way with the longest odds of a Yes win at just 3/1 in bookmakers Coral.

Punters can also place their bets on the careers of key politicians with the odds of First Minister Alex Salmond stepping down in the first 48 hours after the result put at 6/1 by Ladbrokes.
