COMMUTERS faced major disruption after a signalling fault affected a busy train line.
Passengers travelling between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Shotts were hit with cancellations and delays lasting more than an hour.
It is thought the fault was caused by severe weather, including heavy rainfall, high winds and snow.
A spokesman from Network Rail said the problems were between Cleland and Shotts.
Meanwhile, passengers travelling between Edinburgh and Helensburgh Central, faced severe delays after a passenger became ill.
The Scottish Ambulance service attended at Bathgate station and a man was taken to St John's Hospital in Livingston.
