Play football to help beat cancer

CHARITY bosses are appealing for fundraisers to play 5-a-side football in aid of prostate cancer research.

Organisers of Prostate Cancer Awareness Week (March 19-25), want as many people as possible to take part in The Real Man Cup at Powerleague 5-a-side Centre, in London on Saturday, March 10.

The Prostate Cancer Charity aims to recruit between 50-80 teams from across the UK to raise £5000 from the event to help fund the Charity's research programme and its support and information service.

The team entry fee is £120 (non refundable) which includes a £70 donation to The Prostate Cancer Charity.

This money is crucial in helping the charity offer its many services.

Its nurse-led Helpline takes more than 14,000 calls a year from men and their families and many need follow-up info to help them come to terms with their diagnosis and make treatment decisions.

Elaine Bennett, director of fundraising at the charity said: "The Cup is the latest phase of charity's Real Men Know All About it' campaign which urges men to learn more about prostate cancer, which kills 10,000 men a year."
