A MUSICIAN who left artwork for his first album in a taxi today offered to play a free gig - if the woman cabbie returns the drawing.

Joe Kane lost the £100 specially-commissioned sketch after hailing a black cab on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow.

"I know £100 doesn't seem a massive amount of money but it's certainly more than I can afford to fork out again and the artwork is a one-off commissioned piece specially for the album cover," said Joe.

He'd just left the Glasgow School of Art where he was playing last Wednesday night when he got in the taxi, which was driven by a woman.

"I don't think there are many female taxi drivers in Glasgow so I hope she is reading this and gets in touch," said Joe.

"I can't afford to pay a reward but I'd offer to play a one-off gig - maybe in the back of her taxi."

The 27-year-old, who lives in Linthouse, added: "I went to Sauchiehall Street and hailed a black hack at half past 12 - across from the ABC."

An operator for Glasgow Taxis Ltd said drivers are instructed to hand in any items to Pitt Street Police Station.

The drawing is described as a "black-and-white psychedelic" inking done on thick paper, with the name of his band Only Joe Kane' in red writing at the top.

l If you have Joe's artwork, call the Evening Times on 0141 302 6520.
