POP golden boy Paolo Nutini struck a chord today as he filmed in Glasgow.

Looking cold in the winter sunshine, the Paisley singer brought a street in Shawlands to a standstill.

The husky singer, whose debut album These Streets has been a huge worldwide success, was shooting the video for his latest single New Shoes.

And he looked totally relaxed as he chatted to the crew.

Residents in Afton Street had received letters from the film company asking them to move their cars during shooting.

And Glasgow City Council imposed a traffic order which will be in place on both sides of the street until 10pm.

A flat in nearby Tantallon Road will be used for interior shots.

Film bosses erected film lighting in Afton Street and today insisted they would try to keep disruption to a minimum.

Matt Jones, location manager of Big Balls Films, which is producing the video, said: "I appreciate this will be a disturbance and can only apologise for any convenience we will cause."

The location means Paolo can nip down the road to see his parents, who run a chippy in Paisley, when he's finished filming.

And prior to the shoot, most residents said that they were delighted the Scots-Italian, who is a massive hit with female fans, had chosen to film the video locally rather than in a more exotic location.

Young mum Joanna Siwek, 23, who is originally from Poland but lives locally, said: "I think my son Jeremy will be quite excited about seeing all the cameras."

Lusi Alderslowe, 30, added: "It will be great to have no cars in the streets. We'll be watching from our window."

However, not everyone was so happy about the star's presence.

Retired postie Gordon Tait, 73, said: "As far as I know they want to use the whole street and everyone's been asked to move their cars.

"It's disgraceful, we've only been given four days' notice."
