SICK children at Yorkhill Hospital had an extra special Easter when thousands of big-hearted bikers revved in.

Around 9000 bikers, many in fancy dress, roared up to the hospital for the annual Easter egg run.

They handed over more than £26,000 in donations and 20,000 eggs.

Joshua Miller, aged 7, was thrilled.

He said: "I've been talking about it all week because I was so excited. It's even better than I thought it would be. Better than the Easter bunny."

Organised by the Motorcycle Action Group, the event sees bikers from all over Scotland come together.

It is the biggest bikers' rally in Scotland and the second largest in the UK.

Joe Traynor, from Coatbridge, has been taking part for 12 years with his bike Papa Joe.

The 55-year-old said: "A lot of the bikers dress up to cheer the children. I'm dressed as Elvis today. My wig took hours to glue on and I've shaved my beard for the first time in 26 years.

"It's a worthwhile cause and a great day out. And it's good to see people from different clubs."

Hi there, just want to say thanks to the orginisers for another great event, it's just fantastic to see the smiles on the kids faces as the bikes roll in through the front gates at the hospital and you just know that all the effort is worth it......Papajoe ( AKA Elvis )

An eggcellant event.
Well done to everyone involved. Why do other newspapers not report on good things It seems that for people to get noticed you have to be a thug, rapist or anti-social. Either that or be a footballers girlfriend spending loads of money when others struggle.
Report more on similar good causes like these bikers efforts and perhaps people, particularly younger people might do good things to get in the news.
