TWO of Glasgow's leading Indian restaurants have scooped top national accolades.

The Dakhin and Dhabba restaurants, both in Candleriggs in the Merchant City, have picked up EatScotland Individual Excellence awards.

The restaurants are run by the same firm and won the awards in recognition of "innovative" cookery.

Tourism body VisitScotland, which runs the awards, said: "The individual flavours and textures of the ingredients used in the dishes at the Dakhin and Dhabba give the food a quality that makes a visit well worthwhile."

"Service is friendly by staff who have an excellent knowledge of the cuisine and very willing to help and give advice."

Navdeep Basi, director of the Dakhin and Dhabba, said: "I'm delighted for all the team."

Judges of the Eat Scotland Gold Awards also praised Michael Caine's Restaurant at Abode for its "outstanding menu."

The Bath Street restaurant celebrates its first birthday this week.
