N511 FFS: If you see this car driving at you . . . jump!

by Chris Musson

POLICE are hunting a Mercedes driver who tried to kill a pedestrian in four road-rage attacks in the past six days.

The maniac in a black Merc - registration N511 FFS - waved a hammer at two people in one attack and caused two car crashes.

One victim is in a serious condition in hospital after the terrifying incidents in Glasgow's West End.

Police are treating the hit-and-run attack on a pedestrian as attempted murder.

The attacks began last Thursday when the Mercedes driver flew into a rage with two people in another vehicle on Haylynn Street, Whiteinch, and threatened them with a hammer.

On Sunday, a car believed to be the same car mounted the pavement on Crow Road, near Woodend Drive, Jordanhill.

Detective Constable Dougie Wotherspoon, of Partick CID, said the driver drove at the pedestrian in a bid to hit him.

The victim, a 35-year-old man, narrowly avoided being hit but had a minor hand injury.

Minutes later, in nearby Chamberlain Road, the Mercedes hit a Ford Mondeo, driven by a 70-year-old man, who is in a serious condition in hospital.

The Mercedes was then involved in a minor crash in Crow Road at 8.50pm and sped off.

Police said the attacks were "entirely random" and the driver was a white man in his 20s.

It's believed the car, which has not been reported stolen, is registered to an address in Glasgow but police have been unable to trace the owner.

Aye, decent private hire drivers are getting harder and harder to come by.
