Here we go again! The word 'failed' should mean just that. Why don't these people go the nearest safe country? Answer, no welfare benefits there.
Glasgow has its' own homeless, we have a massive drink and drug problem. Decent people are taxed to the hilt to subsidise layabouts, and yet we are also expected to accept more people from all over the world who will be yet another burden on the taxpayer.
Please no more!

I forgot to ask why doesn't the Evening Times find out how much the Ugandan woman Mary Semirimu and her family have already cost us?
As she has been here three years, and her twins are aged three, she must have came here either pregnant or with small babies in tow. She has been living off the taxpayer and does not seem likely to look for work, add the thousands for numerous appeals through legal aid funds, and she is rewarded with council housing.
Both my sons still live at home, as they cannot afford to buy, and they have virtually no chance of council housing as what little is left is being handed over to people like this family. It makes me angry, why doesn't another Scottish city take some of these 'failed asylum seekers'?

raypaterson is misinformed. This particular lady was banned from working until very recently. If the law was changed so people lke her could work things would be better for everyone. Raypaterson has no evidence on which to draw the conclusion that this lady is unlikely to work.
He is also misinformed about housing. She was also evicted from low-demand housing let by the Council (and eventually GHA) to the Home Office until they relented. She has now won her case to remain in the country legally.
Asylum seekers are housed through the GHA/Home Office contract in housing which has for years been difficult and impossible to let, and which in many cases would have been demolished or, as in Pollokshaws, Red Road and Sighthill, is still due for demolition.
I don't want to minimise the problems faced by Raypaterson's sons but they could have some of the hundreds of empty flats if they liked - since they've got a better option at the moment but I somehow doubt if they'd bother.
There is a very interesting set of documents at the City Council's Housing website which discusses the issues and well worth reading - apparently GHA plans to demolish 19,000 dwellings. raypaterson's sons could probably be housed in Ruchill in a flash.
The truth is that the presence of thousands of asylum seekers in Glasgow is reviving many parts of the city - Kingsway in particular. These are people with better personal standards, a better approach to education, and a better work ethic, than many indigenous citizens. The big challenge is to keep them in Glasgow if their applications are succeessful.

Failed asylum seekers should be removed ASAP
We have enough to look after our own people who suffer from poor housing etc.

johnny you are not one of robbinas little helpers are you.
there is a lot of people in glasgow making a lot of money from the asylum "industry".
the point about the housing, most go top of the list when allowed to stay.
the crime some of these people bring to glasgow is also conveniently forgot about.
some of them are realy decent familys, but if they are told to go,they should go...not be helped by government funded charitys.

I'm afraid you are the one who is misinformed. Do you have any evidence that this woman is likely to rush out and get a job? Who would look after her children?
As for the housing issue, I am well aware that the housing is low demand, yet many Glaswegians are forced to live there too. Where are the pressure groups for them?
Also, the housing that is due for demolition means that succesful asylum seekers will get priority in being rehoused, even though many Glaswegians have been waiting years to be rehoused. Near where I live there is a second phase of GHA housing due to built, and already local people who were promised priority, have been told that at least ten houses will be given over to residents of the high rises which are currently housing asylum seekers.
As for your snide racist comments suggesting that somehow asylum seekers are superior to most Glaswegians, this makes me wonder if you are one of the people making an excellent living from the asylum racket, sorry industry.
The challenge, as you say, is keeping them in Glasgow, which suggests that as soon as they can, they will be off elswhere. If Glasgow isn't good enough for them, why do so many fight to stay here?
I am quite willing to bet that you do not live in any of the areas that asylum seekers do, and if you had read my comments correctly, you would see that I am aware of native scroungers, which is why I, and many others do not want to have to support foreign ones too.

If the UK and British Politicians hadn't let us be such a soft touch 10 and more years ago we wouldn't be in this mess now!
I'm not a racist, but I see the problems arising from the way in which asylum seekers, or refugees are given furnished flats, whilst many UK Residents are given far less, or nothing! Surely this inadequacy must be resolved.
The other option is giving some who have held residence here for a set amount of time work permits, and making them pay taxes, as it is ridiculous to see so many being funded by our taxes in Detention Centres accross the Country.
These Detention Centres were the worst thing that could have ever been started, Guantanamo Bay is no better! So lets not kid ourselves on here, and lets force our Politicians to get far tougher with the borders, and stop detaining people or even giving the right to so many to apply for "asylum!"
The buck stops here, and we cannot be seen to being such a soft option. Not unless we overhaul the systems we have which would re-coup back some of the taxes lost from those granted asylum, and stop locking innocent people up.

LET’S DISPEL MORE OF THEIR LIES, first of all.........
‘DAWN RAID’ .... There is no such thing as an asylum ‘dawn raid. These FAILED ASYLUM SEEKERS have been told to prepare for legal and rightful deportation. The term ‘dawn raid‘ is erroneous, the correct term is COLLECTION. Got it, Ms Robina Qureshi, director of public funded charity Positive Action in Housing. COLLECTION - that’s the word you use as of now.
‘DAWN RAID FORCED ME TO FLEE HOME WITH MY TWINS’ .... These FAILED ASYLUM SEEKERS were not forced to flee their (our) home, they were told to prepare for return their own country and they refused to go. They became ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS and chose to break our laws. They are criminals and proven liars.
‘AS HER NEIGHBOURS FOUGHT TO KEEP HER AND HER FAMILY SAFE’ .... Her neighbours are lawbreakers. they are concealing an illegal immigrant / criminal and deliberately obstructing our officers from carrying out their legal duty. These ‘neighbours’ are that which Robina Qureshi refers to as her asylum support groups. They should be arrested.
‘FOUND HERSELF TO BE HOMELESS’ .... She made herself and her children homeless - she could and should have returned to her own country - all expenses paid (by us)
‘FOR THREE MONTHS THE FAMILY WERE FORCED TO, SLEEP ON COUCHES’ .... Could have returned home but refused.
‘ALLOWED TO MOVE INTO ANOTHER FLAT’ .... Why were they allowed to move into another flat? The mother should have been arrested as a criminal legal immigrant and lawbreaker and immediately deported with her offspring.
‘HOME OFFICE’S POLICY OF STRIPPING FAILED ASYLUM SEEKERS OF BENEFITS AND HOUSING RIGHTS’ .... The correct policy. Failed asylum seekers / illegal immigrants have no right to benefits and housing or anything else.
‘THE GOVERNMENT MAKES PEOPLE DESTITUTE TO FORCE THEM TO GIVE UP AND RETURN TO THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN’’ ... This is a slanderous lie. The government accommodates and supports asylum seekers for years and affords them every opportunity to present their case (at our expense) for the right to stay here. When they are legally failed, the failed asylum seekers abscond and are concealed by the law-breaking asylum supporters. Anyone supporting via donations or concealment of these failed asylum seekers, now classed as illegal immigrants, is breaking the law and should be arrested.
Problem is our MP’s, MSP’s and councillors will not act to uphold our laws and deport these FAILED ASYLUM SEEKERS. These political officials are in breach of contract. Politicians undertake to support our laws and should be seen to do so. Currently there is an explosive situation developing in Govanhill due to the massive build-up of immigrants to that part of the city. What are the area councillors for Govanhill doing about it? Sweet **** all. Serious trouble is looming in Glasgow, be warned.

Asylum seekers arrive in Britain unannounced and uninvited. Allowing asylum seekers to work would permit asylum seekers to ‘jump the queue’ to the detriment of those who have applied through official legal channels to come here and work.
Why should an employer offer employment to a person who has destroyed or lost all information about themselves. How would he/she know that his potential employee was not a child abuser, sex offender or had a criminal record. He would have no way of checking out his applicant’s qualifications, past work record or character. The asylum seeker could claim to be qualified in any number of jobs, but have little or no experience in any. Doctor? Nurse? Electrician? Plumber? etc. etc. Extremely serious situation.
How could potential employers be sure of the identity or the character of the applicant they were interviewing for employment.
A great number of asylum seekers fail their claims to stay here on the grounds that their claims are false, ie they are liars. No doubt this ability and readiness to lie would be carried on in their applications to employers.
Of those asylum seekers who have come here and it’s eventually proven that their asylum claims are false how would that equate with them having been allowed to work. Would the fact that they had been working be used as another reason for them being allowed to stay even though their asylum claim was a pack of lies.
You, ‘Johnny Punchclock’ like Sandra White, MSP, give absolutely no consideration to employers who you put forward to employ asylum seekers. Your attitudes are merely to offload your poor wee asylum seekers on to some firm and its employees and to hell with the consequences. Grow up both of you, start thinking and stop talking nonsense.

Strong words Shielagibb,
[bold]And Your views tied in amongst them![/bold] Thank heavens for freedom of speech and what little democracy we have left in this Country!
Its easy to see the black and white scenarios and say its all about "wording" and how we refer to "Asylum Seekers" / "Refugees" ; "Dawn Raids" "Collections" or whatever. . . .
The point is that it is up to the Government to take a strong enough lead from the offset, and we can make a start by closing Detention Centres and deporting those being funded by us, tax - payers within them.
By [italic]"Sitting On The Fence",[/italic] and [italic]"Resting On Their Laurels"
[/italic] our Politicians have done little to restore confidence in our Countries Immigration Policies and have left the system wide open to abuse and don't the media just love it when the Government / Politicians mess up!
This whole mess could have been avoided decades ago, but our softer line has seen us suffering for it now!
Unless we make yet more compromises, or tighten the security measures in place at present, with far stricter quotas or figures for how many asylum seekers we allow, we will continue to see the flood of asylum seekers, either being detained or living illegally.
They may well have "Human Rights" but incarcerating them for months is far from any great solution!

I agree with you, People Power. Our politicians (MP‘s, MSP‘s, Glasgow councillors) have done absolutely nothing to control the invasion of Britain by immigrants. I agree that failed asylum seekers should not be HELD (‘incarcerating’ is a misnomer) in Dungavel and suchlike. Failed asylum seekers should be immediately deported to avoid them absconding and/or being concealed by Ms Qureshi’s organized asylum support groups. In passing, quote from a communication via the Immigration Department:- ‘in a recent experiment approximately 40 families we invited to present themselves for deportation but of these, approximately 39 then disappeared and have not been seen since.’ See the problem? It can be overcome if our Immigration Department really wanted to deport failed asylum seekers - but do they want to deport them.
As for holding asylum seekers and their offspring in Dungavel, I don’t care - the asylum seekers don’t have to go to Dungavel, they can leave the country when legally told to go and avoid Dungavel. The parents prefer to take their children to Dungavel. No surprise. These were the same parents who dragged their children through how many safe countries in the backs of lorries etc (according to them) to grab Britain’s benefits. These same parents are in breach of the ‘Human Rights’ of their children. If the parents don’t care why should I / we care?
Finally , you post as ‘People Power’. Exactly that which the people of Glasgow need to act against the influx of of asylum seekers to our city. I’m searching for such a group to join. Any answers? Don’t suggest the BNP - they’re sleeping.

There is a direct correlation between the numbers of asylum seekers/failed asylum seekers and the rise in crime in the greater Glasgow area and surrounding areas.
The problem being that its not something thats highlighted that often. The number of bag snatches on pension day in North Lanarkshire is through the roof and the culprits are Romanians/congolese immigrants who have been housed by the local council. the reason they house them any guesses ? humanitarian reasons nope just plain old greed. The councils get grants from the home office to relocate them away from England and we have to live with the consequences. Would any of the do gooders and PC bragade like to re house them nope didnt thinks so!!! It really is time to look after our own

I am so glad that so many people agree with me. According to the likes of Johnny Punchclock and his kind, all asylum seekers are brave, intelligent, hard working pillars of the community, and we Glaswegians should be honoured to have (and support) them!
You never hear Johhny or his friends talking about the rapists, peadophiles, benefit fraudsters, criminals, who also come with the package.
The Evening Times should carry a story where they actually speak to people who are fed up listening to sob stories from illegal immigrants, and want something done to stop the abuse of the asylum system. I won't hold my breath waiting for that.

Spot on. Circa 1999, Glasgow City Council accommodated an initial 475 asylum seekers in this city for an initial payment of £120,000,000 (sic) of British taxpayers’ money. Since then the numbers of asylum seekers in this city has swollen to over eight thousand (is this the number of heads of house only without counting their dependents?) via a farther deal with the Home Office for an additional £130.000.000 (sic) Two hundred an fifty million pounds in total. All British taxpayers’ money. This cash was only to provide free furnished accommodation for the asylum seekers.

Spot on again. An article in the Evening Times, 5 September 2007, highlighted the plight of a 23 year old Chinese woman who was six months pregnant and was homeless. PAiH was asking for someone to provide a home for her. In the same article, MSP,Sandra White was again pleading for assistance for her asylum seekers. I placed a request in the comments section accompanying the article asking Sandra White to provide accommodation for the pregnant woman and asking Sandra White to reply via the newspaper. I also sent a reminder email to Sandra White at her Holyrood email address. Sandra White did not reply via the ET and my email to her at Holyrood was mysteriously returned unanswered to my inbox! Seems Sandra White and the other do-gooders want the asylum seekers and refugees here, but not in their backyard. Could be this comment will be mysteriously deleted. Let’s wait and see.

If someone has gone through the full llegal process - including appeals - then why is there any delay in their removal?
What's the problem? [bold]Am I missing something?[/bold]

It’s all in the previous postings Cochrane. After living off us for years, the asylum seekers have their cases prepared and presented by their lawyers,(paid for by us). At the hearing they are judged to have no right to stay in Glasgow, Scotland or Britain. Instead of immediately deporting the FAILED ASYLUM SEEKERS, now classed as ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, they are allowed to return to their (our) homes. The illegal immigrants are told to prepare for legal deportation and our immigration officials call to collect them for removal. THEY REFUSE TO LEAVE!!! The illegal immigrants have either absconded or they are being illegally concealed by ‘asylum support groups’ One deluded wee asylum seeker referred to the group as her ‘friendly neighbourhood watch’. I kid you not. When the immigration officials arrive to collect the illegal immigrants for deportation they are usually escorted by police. The police are there to protect the immigration officials from the rowdy asylum support groups.
These support groups are encouraged by Ms Robina Qureshi, director of charity, Positive Action in Housing. (paid for by us) From her website (paid for by us) she openly condones the actions of the asylum seekers’ supporters who blocked immigration officials from removing failed asylum seekers. The failed asylum seekers can ‘pop-up’ again after months of hiding and be given another one of our free (to them) houses. The FAILED ASYLUM SEEKER / ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT / LIAR / LAWBREAKER and his/her family are allowed to stay (all paid for by us) as demonstrated in the article.
WHY? WHY? WHY? Why is this insane situation allowed to continue? Last I heard, the person responsible for the removal of failed asylum seekers and illegal immigrants was Glasgow based Mr Phil Taylor, Regional Director of Immigration & Nationality Directorate, Scotland (paid for by us) Clearly Mr Taylor is failing miserably in his position. Perhaps Mr. Taylor will enter the comments and give us his explanation as to that which is happening. In his position he should be reading all articles and postings on asylum and immigration. Come on Mr Taylor, let’s hear from you.

Some interesting points you make!
But, this mess will not go overnight, and unless our pathetic government can stand up and get off the fence with their half way measures they will be a laughing stock, and stand no chance of being believed in by us the people.
As for you even mentioning the BNP - wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, they are so right wing and out of touch, with their scaremongering and lies that they cannot ever be relied upon! They just feed the racism in this country and continue to add to the problems we have with refugees who are here being assaulted, beaten up or murdered ?
No human being deserves that - irerespective of their devious ways to get into the UK!
And nobody has the right to spread such terrible right wing crap, and fear mongering which does little to serve the law abiding and good citizens of the UK, or Scotland.
We need joined up thinking, not set apart.
We need policies that go the full hog.
We need politicians with backbone, and charisma.
And
We need to have far more involvement of the people / citizens who live in the UK.
We the people have a say in how the government rules, vote them in or out!
But for god sake USE YOUR VOTE WHEN IT COUNTS -OR FOREVER REMAIN SILENT!

Shiela Gibb = excellent responses but the points you have raised will disappear once this story is a few days old online.
Maybe you could request the evening times to hold a question time type debate on the problems of these illegal seekers being allowed to come here for purely their own financial gain. As you say and we all know, asylum shold be only to neighbouring countries, not any other country that does not share our borders never mind a different continent. From the moment they step on our soil then the costs in monetary and social terms escalate. Surely some editorial staff from "Glasgow's greatest newspaper" read the comments posted and would be willing to stage such a live question and answer debate.
We need to start somewhere. Hope you can take this further.

Well sheilagibb,
Don't let me stop you from setting up a Website dedicated to the cause you foremention!
As for Gary of Parkhead - wishful thinking I fear in relation to your suggestion of a "Question Time" type debate!
Even the BBC's Question Time is almost always Topical, and covering the most pressing issues of the moment, not necessarily the underlying or ongoing issues which many ministers don't wish to address, and are trying to sidetrack!
Would personally love to see the Evening Times have far more debates and interactive "Question Time" style shows with audience participation from the avid readers it has. Like Radio Clyde has done with it's soon to be broadcasted: "Ask The First Minister Show!"
We do need to start somewhere, but we need to have a willingness to participate from all those concerned from the offset.
But, not the half hearted, greed, lies and pathetic sitting on the fence affair we've witnessed with our Politicians.

Let’s look more closely at the story of Ugandan woman Mary Semirimu and her three-year-old twins, Michelle and Michael.
‘‘Mary’’, is that her real name?, claims that a ‘‘Dawn raid forced me to flee home with my twins’’. This is a downright lie. ‘‘Mary’’ and her twins were refused the right to stay in Britain. She was given a time and date on which she and her twins would be collected from her place of stay and they would be removed for legal deportation. ‘Mary’ chose to break our laws by becoming an illegal immigrant and absconding with her twins. She chose to inflict hardship and homelessness on her twins. She was illegally hidden by one of her simple-minded neighbours who also chose to break our laws. The neighbour and ‘Mary’ are lawbreakers, ie criminals. ‘Mary’ then lies again by erroneously stating ‘‘for three months the family were forced to sleep on the couches of friends and neighbours’’. Not so - the family was not ‘‘forced’’. ‘‘Mary’’ was free to take herself and her children out of homelessness by returning to her own country.
For some strange unknown reason, when ‘‘Mary’’ was tracked down she and the children were allowed to move into another flat in the Kingsway area while awaiting news. While awaiting news for what? Here we have a lying, illegal immigrant who has stuck two fingers up at the decisions of our judges and law courts, abused the rights of her children by placing them in a situation of homelessness and deprivation - why was she not immediately deported out of Britain? Is the situation so insane that if an illegal immigrant manages to evade deportation for a time then that illegal will be granted a free furnished home, free NHS and dentistry treatment, free education et al. Is this how we award criminals? ‘‘Mary’’ and her twins ‘‘escaped being taken to Dungavel’’. Dungavel should not be used. Failed asylum seekers should be deported IMMEDIATELY. We are then slyly told that ‘‘officers sealed their house with a steel door - to stop them retrieving any of their clothes or toys’’ What devious lies to defile our immigration officers. The doors were sealed in keeping with council policy - to prevent intruders breaking into an empty house - not to prevent the uplift of clothes or toys. Had ‘‘Mary‘‘ left when told, she would have been allowed to leave with all clothes, toys etc. - she chose to abscond.
‘‘Positive Action In Housing gave them £350’’ Which proves that PAiH knew where this family of illegal immigrants was hiding but opted to withhold their whereabouts to our authorities - a criminal act. Clearly this charity is acting against the interests of the indigenous population Time to close PAiH down.
We now learn that ‘‘she and the twins will now be able to stay on in Scotland indefinitely’’. We will now have to provide for ‘‘Mary’’ and her twins indefinitely. We will have to pay for their accommodation. health treatment, give them money every week, educate her twins for years, legal representation et al - a tidy sum - probably amounting to £££million’s.
And what do we know about this woman? Who is she? what is her background? Why did she have to leave Uganda? Was she a criminal? This is the type of unknown refugee who Sandra White, MSP and Johnny Punchclock campaign for our firms to employ. Oh, and how will ‘‘Mary’’ pay us back? Probably by dropping another kid on us to clothe, feed etc, etc, etc.
Time to bring this asylum and immigration sickness to an end.

I agree. The points I have raised will disappear but I and other anti-asylum posters will not disappear. Not so long ago postings such as mine were met with insults of racist, jackboot, holocaust. Hitler / BNP lover etc. These remarks have all but ceased. Anti-asylum opinion hasn’t changed. More protesters are commenting on the ‘asylum’ stories. Note the large number of anti-asylum comments as against the small number of pro-asylum.
For years we had to endure the insulting, degrading comments of Robina Qureshi, director of PAiH used against our immigration officers without any criticism of her conduct. Her rhetoric of ‘brutal, humiliating dawn raids / dawn raid teams / immigration snatch squads / doors being booted in by metal battering rams and children being dragged out screaming / men in riot gear who arrive in their black people-carriers with the built in cages to carry out dawn raids’ and ‘thugs with warrant cards’. All created to vilify and pressurize the Home Office from removing asylum seekers. Sad thing is the ‘bosses’ of our vilified immigration officers will not speak out in defense of their colleagues. She and her charity are now receiving long overdue condemnation.
It would be negative to hold a ‘question time debate’ - that would soon ‘disappear’. You also say, ‘Surely some editorial staff from "Glasgow's greatest newspaper" read the comments posted’. I‘m sure they do and I’m sure they will have noticed the large majority of posters who are speaking out against asylum seekers. Perhaps "Glasgow's greatest newspaper" will begin to show the downside of asylum and immigration instead of publishing photographs of poor wee asylum seekers and their poor wee weans all depicted as being victimized by our big bad immigration officers.

God what a horrible miss mash of ranting, ininuations, gossip and nonesense.
I don't know where to start. Probably by saying how sad many of these comments are. You all have such short memories:
'he who refuses to learn by his mistakes are bound to repeat them'
Many of your comments are so similar to the arguements used to turn our backs on the jews during WW2 'there's too many, they just want our jobs, they are all liars and thiefs'.
It was the revulsion at the holocaust that led to the geneva convention we signed, pledging to protect people facing persecution. These lofty aims boil down to realities of houses and flats, with tabes and chairs (in glasgow where no-one else wants to live)
This article talks about 'failed' asylum seekers. Question is:do we get these decisions right? 25% are overtunred on appeal - at least 1 in 5 are wrong! isn't that the shocking thing?
The woman in this story is the perfect example - she was refused before the govt accepted they were wrong all along and gave her refugee status. But only after dawn raiding her! Point is, the govt dont make someone a refugee, thet only recognise that fact (significant difference). She was an asylum seeker all along but needed to go through all this to prove it!
If it hadn't been for friends and neighbours and charities she would have been sent back to this:

but hey, as long as you horrible people get your flats and low betide anyone above you on a housing list!
Real glasweggians welcome newcomers, just as this woman's neighbours did! That is something to celebrate.

too right side show.
Sheila Gibb, you cannot tell people what language they should be using. If you ask me, a DAWN RAID has been dumbed down. It is sometimes worse than that; immigration office smashing their way through people's doors then if noone is home, they smash their way through the balcony doors incase they are sleeping in the balcony.
I have been there when a family is dawn raided. it aint a pleasent site and no way can you call it a collection.
If my sister woke up in her pyjamas to find a man standing at the end of her bed with a video camera, all hell would break loose. I wouldn't allow it and every child organisation would be screaming from the hills. But when it happens to a young asylum seeking girl, who gives a s***?
why does the UN rights of a child apply to every child other than asylum seekers in this country, it is discusting.
People who you class as 'failed' have been deemed 'failed' by the same people who screwed up the working tax credit awards and by the same people who send our families to war in countries who dont need us there.
if the governments decision making was fair in the first place, then we wouldn't have so many people living in this limbo. they would be working, paying taxes, like you(i assume) and I.
Finally, Positive action in housing is not fully funded by anyone, they are funded by many trusts, banks and supporters. Their campaign work is paid for 100% through donations. they work and get support from every community. It is only a small number who spend their days going through every website, to get their small minded, racist, comments across.

I'm not a fan of the dawn raid mentality but it seems a last resort at the very end of a very long road of applications and appeals.
It's probably based on the fact that those about to be deported and who realise they've exhausted the appeals process tend to flit.
The obvious solution to replace dawn raids is to establish a scheme whereby those that are being deported are given a month's notice to voluntarily report to the airport at a decent hour.
This would give them ample time to say their goodbyes and prepare for the journey back.
But my guess is that a pilot would show a very low or neglible level of cooperation, hence the need to have no-notice visitation at a time when the household are all likely to be present...

Jamie - as you well, PAH is part funded by the Scottish Executive, in other words by tax payers.

None of our comments are similar to those used to ‘‘turn our backs on the Jewish refugees’’ circa WW2. The Jewish refugees / asylum seekers were true refugees fleeing real horrors. They were taken into Britain - and rightly so. The vast majority of asylum seekers / refugees now dropping into Britain are fraudulent. Want an example? Single mum Misbah Ali, ‘‘fled’’ her native land of PAKISTAN with her two small sons to arrive in Britain. Why did she ‘‘flee’’ - because she didn’t get on with her husband! That was her reason for claiming sanctuary. Why didn’t she flee to the nearest safe country? You refer to the rules of the Geneva Convention. What about the rule that states asylum seekers / refugees should seek sanctuary in the nearest safe country to their own!!!
