A PROBE was continuing today after a teenager was stabbed on his way to school in a racist attack in Glasgow.
Christopher Ikolo, 15, was heading back to class after lunch when he was knifed in the South Side of the city.
He was rushed to hospital with stab wounds after he was approached by a man in a lane between Aikenhead Road and Polmadie Road.
Christopher, 15, who lives in Cathcart, moved to Glasgow five years ago from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Police today confirmed they are treating the attack on the Holyrood Secondary School pupil as racially motivated. Officers believe drivers in the area may have spotted the knifeman fleeing the scene.
Det Sgt Debbie Johnstone said: "This was an unprovoked attack on a young boy and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the attack to come forward.
"I believe the suspect may have ran onto Aikenhead Road and passing motorists or pedestrians may have seen something which could help us in this inquiry. I would urge them to contact us."
The suspect is white, around 19 years-old, 6ft tall with a slim build and was wearing a black and white jumper and blue or black baseball cap.
The attack took place around 2pm on Friday
afternoon.
Doctors at Glasgow's
Victoria Infirmary, where Christopher is being treated, described his condition as stable today.
