Power to the people!
Good Luck with the campaign.
Why should one man, who no doubt pulls a few strings on the muppets in the city chambers, have the right to take over our Dear Green Place by turning into a Dear Green Place to visit (in the monetary sense).
Back off "King" or it'll be off with your head - Viva la Revolucion! =)

Interestingly enough - I learned that there is to be a Meeting held for [bold]Residents, Associations and Other Groups[/bold] , on the G1 Group Proposal. [bold]( two nominated delegates per group!)[/bold]
On Thursday 15th November, at 8pm at the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel.
Following the meeing on the 3rd October, (SOB) Save Our Botanics was set up, with the object of opposing the development by campaigning and supporting possible legal action aginst the council.
SOB is particuarly concerned to brng together as many groups as possible so that the oppsostion to the development can be co-ordinated, to avoid duplication of effort, and to ensure that the campaign is as strong as possible.
The meeting will be chaired by Anne Laird( Chair, Friends oof Glasgow West & Founding member of SOB). Speakers will include: Eric W Curtis ( former director of the Botanic Gardens, and author of "The Story Of Glasgow's Botanic Gardens"); Proffessor Keith Vickerman (Emeritus Regius Proffessor of Zoology, Institute of Biomedical and Life Sciences, University Of Glasgow.; Friends of the Botanic Gardens); and David J. Howat (Chair, SOB.) At the meeting we will explain the G1 Proposal in detail and the reasons for our opposition for it. set our how we are campaigning against it, and explain how you can help.
All Community Groups & Community Councils should take full use of this opportunity to speak out, in favour of or against this proposal.
And get all available information circulated to community members on how they can help this campaign further. As well as the grounds they can use for objection, and the routes they should take to object to The G1 Group Botanic Gardens Potential Decimation..

Not wanting to steal Cambuslang subway2020.com mans thunder! he seems to be mysteriously quiet!
Anyway, if you really want me to comment on the SPT numptys - I will . . .
An 111 year old "Toy - Town" Subway System with staff that don't know their left hand from their right, and who can hardly spell communication, let alone know the meaning of it.
. . . that enough for you ? . . . .

Let face it, with the 2014 bid now in te bag, the G-wane group would be better saving its coppers for the East End of Glasgow.

Aye, Mr King could build his night club in the grounds of Glasgow Green instead - LOL ;) Serve all thse thirsty, celebrational, Commonwealth Supporters.
Sure the council would appreciate his investment in the development and regeneration of the East End, not the gentrification and over - development of Glasgows West End.
With 3 licencees within the West End owning 3am Licences already, and the level of fights, violence and injuries relating to drunks increasing how will Glasgow cope long term with the closure of The Western Infirmarys A & E.
If I was a Paramedic having to drive a drunk and injured patient through the tunnel, or accross the city centre to the Royal Infirmary I'd be speaking out against this Nightclub.
NO MORE LATE NIGHT LICENCES - LEAVE OUR BOTANICS ALONE!

I have boycotted Mr King’s chain pubs for year’s now- why anyone would want to spend their money in his soulless establishments I don't know.
I liked the idea of recreating the old Botanics station with a cafe and restaurant, but the nightclub is a step too far. However Glasgow City council has no respect for the West End and the importance of preserving a well-balanced community. They see it simply as a good area for squeezing high rates of council tax out of people. They don't care about preserving the historic buildings that make it desirable instead giving planning permission to anyone who wants to throw up soulless blocks.
People power you are quite right about the Western. Dispite[quote]quote[/quote] the increase in the population of the West End, planned by the Council (Glasgow Harbour), the council have allowed our A & E service to disappear and are closing at least 3 primary schools in the area.
Do these morons actually think things through at all?

WestEnder,
These undersights are of major concern, and must be addressed. We build Harbourside Flats, and many more residential developments.
Yet close primary schools...... Really smart - NOT!
We consider this Nightclub Proposal, despite all the risks, outrage, and implications.
Health And Safety Including - i.e the Westerns A & E Closure.
Perhaps Paramedics would be interested in representing themselves at this meeting ?
Also - I'd be interested to know the thoughts of Glasgows Fire & Rescue Services on the safety aspects of such a development.
An underground nightclub......Not where I'd want to be, should a fire ever break out ?
Perhaps this Development will impact on far more services and facilities than the council or Stefan King and his G1 Group are prepared to admit.
Or are the ££££££££££'s signs just far too much of a lure for them to be able to see the wood for the trees!
Common sense goes out the window it seems where generated revenue is concerned.

Mr King has the Cul-de-sac and the Grosvenor, both in Ashton Lane. Isn't that enough? Does he really need to bury a night club underground a few hundred yards away from those outlets?
Byers Road is awash with drinking establishments from the bottom to the top. It is also awash with drunks every night. Can anyone imagine what it will be like with yet another late boozer opening? I can...more cars will be damaged, more of the rabble will urinate in the streets and the noise levels will escalate all over the West End. Do our city concillors really care? Not so you'd notice!

Unfortunately NOT Ronnie. Why do we pay these people? You will notice a plane load were away for a FREE MUNCH and a BOOZE up last week in the name of Commonwealth! The whole of Glasgow is turning into a dump, Byres Road now has the most horrific modern buildings casually papped up next to amazing architecture. They better have a miracle up their sleeves if they are to ATTRACT visitors into the city centre now that they have pushed most of the shops/decent people out of it.
