A WOMAN who stabbed an Asian teenager, telling him "you're all terrorists" was today jailed for six years.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard Mary McKay, 32, walked up to Tarik Husan and Sarbaz Kamil at a bus stop in a Glasgow.
She knifed Mr Husan repeatedly in the chest and arm, and later told police: "I just stabbed a guy with the same colour of skin as a terrorist."
Mr Husan, 17, had only arrived in Scotland a short time before he was attacked by McKay on the eve of the anniversary of the 9/11 bombings.
McKay had previously pleaded guilty to attempting to murder Mr Husan.
When she appeared today for sentencing, Lord Menzies told her she would have been facing nine years in prison if she had not pleaded guilty.
He added: "It seems to me this was a completely unprovoked attack on an unarmed stranger in the public street.
"The fact that you were under the influence of cocaine at the time was no excuse - indeed it is quite the reverse."
The attack, in Tollcross Road, happened on September 10, 2007.
McKay, who had taken cocaine, later claimed she had gone to stab her mother but had missed the bus and stabbed Mr Husan instead.
She had grabbed Mr Husan by the arm and plunged the knife three times into his chest
After the attack, McKay had walked into a shop still clutching the knife and waited for the police to arrive.
Mr Husan recovered but still has scars.
Defence counsel Allan Nicol said that McKay had been a victim of violence and used drugs to block out memories of abuse.
Lord Menzies said he took into account that McKay, a prisoner in Cornton Vale, came from a difficult background.
Her extended sentence means she will be supervised under licence for two years after her release from jail.
