At last a bit of sense from a local politician on the pages of the ET! Exactly: we all have to ask the question about [bold]in whose interest are these New Labour Numpties acting[/bold]? Locally they are:
> selling off the assets of the people at a frightening pace
> privatising services across the board
> eliminating council workers' rights
> imposing indirect taxes everywhere, from parking to refuse maintenance
> driving visitors out of the city centre away from hard-pressed businesses, into the arms of rich private property developers
> closing down centuries-old Glasgow institutions whose cultural legacy can never be replaced
> spoiling the rich tranquility of our Dear Green Places
> cutting spending on core services serving the most vulnerable people
> refusing to allow the people of Glasgow a say in important decisions
...and all this when the pages of our national newspapers are constantly filled with tales of alleged corruption and extravagant expenses claims.

Labour MPs in Scotland have to do what they are told by Brown and dare not disobey orders or they will be deselected by the party at the next election.
Hopefully the voters will do the necessary deselection when the time comes.

Interesting to note that only two thirds of SNP MP's could be bothered to vote for the motion. If they truly believed that this opposition motion was so important then they might have made the effort to ensure a full turnout.
Or are they just playing the usual silly games with serious issues?

The SNP are pure hypocrites on this matter. Labour are making the hard decisions while they sit in the fence. Ok so one or two post offices go but many will stay open thanks to Labour. Labour are the only party of vision in this country and that is why the majority vote for them and always will. Labour govern the whole of the UK and our MP's at time have to take this into consideration, not just be thinking about where the local junkie can cash his giro. Some people need to see the bigger picture, but some of the users of this forum there is never a chance of that happening

It says it all when this Labour supporter thinks labour are the only party of vision, and he dismisses post offices as simply places where junkies cash their giros. The city junkies of the banks and stock exchange have been cashing their big fat giros in London with glee since labour came to power. It's all the likes of frank and his cronies think of.

Why then Frank are they voting to close them in London but appearing to campaign against the closures in Glasgow?

[bold]HERE HERE SYDNEY! THE NEW LABOUR DICTATORSHIP OF "DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO!" is typical of their HYPOCRISY, CORRUPTION and LIES.[/bold]
Unless we are able to turn FULL CIRCLE, and re - introduce a better balance of taxation, benefits, financial incentives, and mortgages getting more in line with peoples wages - the only way is down the black hole of recession.
New Labour have tried and failed gloriously!
Give the SNP a chance and lets see what their made of - But, to rebuff the change of how our country is governed, by holding onto the outdated ideals of our parents & grandparents is utterly foolhardy and proves what a bunch of fraudulant sheep the labourites & labour cronies all are.
