Boy, 13, dies in head-on car smash
 

A 13-YEAR-OLD boy has died after a head-on crash on a country road.

Two women drivers were also injured, one seriously, in last night's accident, which happened on the A706 Lanark to Forth Road around 8.30pm.

A Seat Toledo collided with a Vauxhall Corsa near Throughburn Cottage.

The two drivers and the teenage passenger were taken to Wishaw General Hospital, where the boy died from his injuries.

The 30-year-old driver of the Corsa is today in a "serious condition".

The Toledo driver, also 30, is stable.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
