A CHARITY organisation has opened a new shop, selling pre-loved' furniture, in Glasgow's East End.
Beulah Scotland's new premises in The Gallowgate is set to open on Friday.
The Gallowgate shop is part of a new community project to provide a service to the area as well as training and volunteer placements to help people learn soft skills' and get back into work.
It is the latest venture for Beulah Scotland, which already runs a similar project in Wishaw, Lanarkshire.
The original programme has been running for 15 years, starting with a small church-based charity shop selling second hand items and bric-a-brac.
Lanarkshire Furniture was born due to an increasing demand for people wanting to donate and buy furniture.
Development officer Rachel Sedman said: "We want to provide low cost furniture to people who may otherwise not be able to afford it and also be environmentally friendly."
The group hopes to give residents the same benefits as seen in Lanarkshire.
By the end of 2007 the group had taken on 45 volunteers, trained 70 people and put at least 13 back into full time employment through training at Lanarkshire Furniture.
The project is open to accept furniture donations immediately.
The Gallowgate shop will be open each Wednesday to Sunday, from 10am-3pm.
