Yorkhill to Parkhead as part of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games preparations. This should be built as a 'heavy rail' extention of the present Argyle Line making the C'Games sites readily accessible from the bulk of the existing British national rail network. Posted by: People Power, Glasgow on 8:51pm Wed 30 Apr 08 But Mr Clarkson pointed out that Partick Cross already had "first-class" public transport infrastructure. So, is that why Mr Clarkson uses this public transport system hisself, on a daily basis? I think not! ! ! I imagine he gets around using his car, and as a QC assuming he drives, he'll have no ordinary car. So, Q.C. Patrick Clarkson, go and do your homework and don't just spout what you presume to be the case, if you're not even a local to Partick. Over 1,000 objections have already been submitted to try to stop this proposal. Various serious concerns have been raised: 1. Increased traffic, parking and access problems 2. Threat to locally-owned shops and family-owned businesses. 3. Contrary to the City Plan and policy guidance 4. Inappropriate design, scale and materials Also, the billions that Tesco makes, along with having a store in every post code area of the UK - contributing towards this Fastlink project in the bigger picture is surely no huge loss to Tesco, should they potentially get permission (I HOPE NOT!) This just demonstrates the greed and ignorance Tesco has, and how much it supposedly cares about the communities it has its stores within. Massive multi-national chains with stores as large as Tesco's ought to be giving far more back to the communities they can potentially destroy as well as serve. New Supermarkets of this size and scale do not come without a huge price in many other ways. The local shops of Partick WILL INNEVITABLY CLOSE if TESCO MANAGE TO CONVINCE THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT & PUBLIC ENQUIRY OFFICIALS OF THEIR CASE. STOP TESCO OWNING PARTICK - ENOUGH SAID! |
