A police officer shot and killed an armed suspect who opened fire in the St. Petersburg courthouse in Florida, officials said.
Another officer was wounded in the shoulder by gunfire in yesterday's incident, but the injuries are not life-threatening.
Pinellas County Sheriff's Sgt. Jim Bordner said the shooting occurred near the entrance to the courthouse, which is located in downtown St. Petersburg.
Bordner added that the man opened fire after approaching a security checkpoint.
