TWELVE-YEAR-OLD Darren Penman poignantly ties a ribbon around school railings as pupils came together to remember two murdered brothers.
Dozens of blue and yellow ribbons flickered in the wind with heartfelt messages attached in tribute to fellow pupil Paul Ross, 6, his brother Jay, 2.
A steady stream of youngsters placed their ribbons one by one following a special service led by Royston School Primary chaplain Rev Russell McLarty.
It was a day of reflection as staff, pupils and parents gathered to remember the youngsters who were found dead in their father's car near the Campsie Hills, in Lennoxtown on Saturday.
Tears were shed as the children joined together and today pupils planted a pear tree in the school garden surrounded by butterflies.
It lies just feet away from another tree in memory of murdered Royston eight-year-old Mark Cummings who also attended the school.
Prayers were led by Rev McLarty and two candles were lit for the brothers at the beginning of the service which then moved outside to the school playground.
Ribbons were placed with emotional messages penned by youngsters, some of which were not even in joined-up writing.
One from Paul's own teacher Paul Flanagan read: "We will miss you but never forget the happy times in P2."
Another said: "I will miss you both - wish you all the luck in heaven."
Glasgow City Council was represented by deputy Lord Provost Councillor Allan Stewart who left a ribbon on the council's behalf.
Rev McLarty said: "This was very much for the children today and we tried to give them a sense of occasion and respect that their prayers mattered.
"We had a beautiful circle of candles with two in the middle for Paul and Jay and we expressed our thoughts through song and prayer. There was a few tears while other children kept their feelings deep inside."
