POLICE in Glasgow must be backed up by more resources, politicians have been told.
Labour MSP Des McNulty said the Scottish Government must do more to make the city streets safer.
He raised the story of Sioux Jackson, reported in the Evening Times on Wednesday, who was stabbed for just 50p.
Mr McNulty said: "There are too many random attacks on individuals, as highlighted by the Evening Times.
"The government must do more to help the police as well as making sure there are more resources for other security measures such as more CCTV and better street lighting."
Justice Minister Kenny MacAskill said he was committed to recruiting 1000 new police officers.
