Granny scoops bingo £250,000 jackpot

AN Irvine grandmother has scooped almost £250,000 in a massive bingo payout.

The woman, who has asked not to be identified, was stunned when she took the £247,364.05 prize on Monday afternoon at the town's Gala Bingo hall.

But the other 216 players on the day were also blown away when they took their own shares of the winnings at a healthy £1126.69 each.

In total £486,728.11 was won on the "High 5" jackpot game where all players can claim half of the total rollover.

Duty manager Sandra Mullen said Monday's win was a record in the town.

She added: "A lot of customers at first didn't like the High 5 game.

"Now I don't think we have anyone not buying it."
