Morrisons could do with a revamp, that's for sure, and this is a slightly better site than Tesco's. Shame Morrison's aren't as good a shop as Tesco though (well that's my view!). Kenny McLean is sticking his neck out a bit if he's saying that Tesco's standalone store plan is pan breid. I don't think anyone knows that with any great degree of certainty. Still, it's his neck!

[bold]tescos turf war[/bold] , I was saddened to read this article and not see a stand up fight with Tesco throwing a piece of soil and grass through the air at Wm. Morrisons. Morrisons new slogan 'roll up roll up buy one e-coli sarnie in Paisley-get one free'. Tesco 'cheap crap', 'every little helps'. or how about 'Every large over sized gigantic 24 hr superstore seems to count more as we are greedy'
Who cares who builds what, long as we can still manage to afford to eat with rising costs and fuel gas and leccie, council tax, am surprised we aren't all starved to death. I see m&s is suffering losses, as folk are having cheaper affordable food now as can't afford to get top of the range on our same budgets, mortgages sky high too. 9p beans it is on 29p stale stodgy white pan bread at Tesco it is then..

hey people, did you know [bold]spend 50quid or more get 5p off per litre at Tesco[/bold] , if you have difficulty in getting near a store for food, save hassle guy delivers right to your door, I have no idea how much this will save, but it has got to be good eh, if anyone shops online they can also earn 1000 points on the tesco clubcard order of £50 or more shop by going to checkout and adding a code ,the code you require is XXGPCH. This will give you 1000 points and works more than once for anyone ,but expires on 6th. Every little helps!

I certainly hope this fresh blow comes to fruition and stops Tesco in its tracks.
As the landmass the store is buying up, and holding onto for years at a time, with multiple planning applications being re-submitted is proof of the stores greed.
Tesco has owned this site at Beith Street for over 4 years now, with it lying dormant all that time.
If this Tesco-Town application has failed, and the site is not going to be for mixed useage, and affordable residential properties also.
Tesco should just pull out, go hame and leave Glasgow's Beith Street alone.
Large developments - stores are all very well when the design of road, infrastructures, and conditions are right. This is not the case here.
All too often we are seeing inner city, urban developments, with far less foresight, or forward thinking, and far more greed, and so called need for this commercial onslaught, at the cost of our residential communities.
The change to Partick will be like night and day. Its diversity of shops will innevitably suffer. Its already congested Dumbarton Road, Beith Street, and Byres Road will only get worse.
Pollution, noise, and disruption caused by the huge delivery lorries adding to the vast number of them already delivering to :
Somerfield ( soon to be Waitrose)
Sainsburys
M & S
Morrisons
Iceland & Farmfoods
& Argos delivery lorries......
All this extra HGV traffic is bound to have an impact on the structure of our roads, with many of them breaking up, pot holes appearing far more due to the weight of such massive HGV's.
Whatever way you look at it, this Tesco will tip the scales too far in favour of the supermarkets. The West End is already overprovided for where they are concerned.
[bold]NO TO TESCO : NO MORE SUPERMAEKETS : NO : NO : NO![/bold]
