Um, why would you wait 40 minutes for a 10 minute train journey?
Have you never heard of the bus or even tried walking?
No wonder this country is waddling towards obesity.

Last years £85m engineering works ? You mean this years works ! That don't come in to use until Christmans this year ! Once again poor shoddy reporting by the ET. But hey, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Why is it everyone goes ballistic when the trains break down?? If a set of traffic lights on a major arterial road in the city jammed on red, it would cause as much delays and inconvenience yet it wouldn't even merit a footnote in the media....we accept trouble on the roads as a fact of life and rarely complain about it, yet we just expect the trains to work 100% reliably all the time and kick up an almighty stink and decry the railways for all they are worth the minute there is the slightest hiccup. No wonder everyone drives!!!

You have to laugh at the retard travellers, i was involved in point failure at Central Low Level and had people travelling to Argyle St moaning, get out and walk you lazy gits.
I could imagine what may happen if a train had went thru any reds set up further down the line.

Fair point about taking a detour on a train ...but the poor people at Central at least had the option of not getting on it in the first place.

Andrew - I hope we get Crossrail and the Subway improvements too - bring it on!! Xrail will happen I'm sure as its relatively cheap, but the Subway is a non-starter due to cost.
Whilst Holyrood is more pro-rail than Westminster, we've got the English complaining that we cost them too much money whilst the teuchters up north are accuse Glasgow and Edinburgh of getting disproportonate amount of public spend. You can't win.

Subway will never work as the lazy **** that work on it dont want to work after 6 on a sunday, which snookers that idea, unless it gets provatised.
Xrail is a good idea but for how long has it been touted by GCC?
