A HAIR salon owner who was robbed was terrified the thieves would take her mobile - with the last text message her mum sent before she died.

Sarahanne McGill, 31, said she would have had to "gone for" the two men, who stole £200, if they had taken the phone sitting on a table in the salon.

Her mum Marion Mullin had texted her daughter last October to say she was going to sleep - but never woke up. She was just 49. So when Sarahanne opened her salon in Scotstoun in April, she named it Murrin Hair, the gaelic for Marion.

But shop staff were shocked on Thursday when two men, one wearing tights over his head and the other with a hood up, walked through the door at 4.45pm and demanded money.

A 17-year-old girl, on work placement, was closest to the till and Sarahanne just shouted at the men to take the cash.

Sarahanne said: "It was terrifying - everyone was badly shaken. The money didn't mean much, but my phone is precious. If he had went for the phone, I thought I would have to go for him. I could not allow him to take it.

"The last message she sent me was that she was going to sleep, but she never woke up."

She added: "If there had not been money in the till, God knows what would have happened."

One of the customers at the time was 20-year-old Rangers community coach Erald Krasniqi, who was facing a mirror when the robbers entered the salon.

He said: "I was staying still, waiting for the man to move away. He had his right hand in his pocket. I stood up and looked for something for protection in case they did attack the girls and myself. There was just a mop so I grabbed that and Sarahanne shouted to me not to do anything."

One of the two robbers tried to make off with till itself, possibly because they weren't wearing gloves and realised they had left fingerprints, said Sarahanne.

Erald wanted to run after them after they made off with the money, but Sarahanne feared for his safety and pulled him back. She said: "Erald was fantastic but I just kept pulling him back.

"I'm scared every time the door opens. Scotstoun is a nice community and the support here is fantastic.

"If you know anything about this attack, please tell the police."

Officers attended the salon and are appealing for witnesses, while also examining CCTV footage from the area.

I had my hair done the next day by the girls and while they were obviously upset and had been frightened by these low-life they were determined they would not be made to work in fear. They gave me a great hair cut and were so upbeat. After what they'd gone through I was amazed they were even opened - well done to you all!

This happened about 3 months ago to another shop owner not far from here. Luckily she managed to chase them off, pity she didnt go to the police as it might have stopped it happening again.they seem to target shops with women only working in them .
