For the love of music

by Graeme Murray

SHE'S known as the wee wummin with the big voice'.

And after almost 50 years in the music business, 72-year-old June Love could still teach today's X-Factor wannabes a thing or 10.

June, of Pollok, began her singing career in London's Soho and is still playing to packed houses at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The 4ft 11in tall singer said: "I was a waitress for 25 years and used to work in all the top hotels in London and Glasgow.

"In one of the places I worked they asked me to get up and sing because someone hadn't turned up, and I got offered the job."

This Sunday she will play a show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the third consecutive year.
