All star bash for Scots style icons

by Gordon Thomson

SCOTLAND'S style icons will be named at a star-studded bash at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

Radio and television presenter Lauren Laverne is to host the Scottish Style Awards before a celebrity-packed VIP audience.

Now in its fourth year, the glam event has previously been won by the likes of David Tennant and is billed as the benchmark of contemporary Scottish style, celebrating the creativity of people who enrich life north of the border through fashion, music, the arts, stage, screen, retailing and hospitality.

From Scotland's most stylish man, woman, band or musician to the country's fashion designer of the year, awards are presented in 12 categories.

Previous winners also include James McAvoy, KT Tunstall, Christopher Kane and El Presidente. There have also been awards for style hotels such as Dakota and the Hotel du Vin.

Laverne, who has fronted The Brits and The NME Awards, said: "What a thrill. It's so exciting to be part of such a stylish occasion. I can't wait."

Me thinks big fish/wee pond. As Robert Carlyle was voted "Scotland's most stylish man" you really do have to question the thoughts of others.

Egotistical junket.

I con honestly say this story makes me ashamed to be Scottish.

I hope Stephen Purcell is at the very least one of the nominees. I admire his style.
It's about time this city actually showed some support for the man.

Sydney, I regret to inform you that once again your signature line is incorrect. I apprecaite the fact that you made an atempt to change it following yesterday's embarrassing ommision of an apostrophe, but today's effort get's a 2 out of 5 I'm afraid.

You see, you state that you are the "voice" of Glasgow's silenced majority. That would be correct if we were on radio where your opinions would be VOICED, (vocal put forward).
We are not "hearing" your comments, so therefore, the use of the word "voice" is incorrect.
Try again tomorrow.

Yet another misplaced apostrophe - see even a spell-checker can't save a fool from his own stupidity!

You're thick - get over it, move on...

Very good spin. Disguise your own mistake with the mistake of another. Clever.

Anyway, we concluded yesterday that I was dumb, so we still need to attend to your inadequacies. I suggest that you reconsider your tag line and correct the poor grammar that so clearly exists.
C'mon Syndey, get it sorted. I know Murder she Wrote is on just now and you are probably doing naughty things to the thought of Jessica Fletcher, but if you could just correct your mistake.
