With the current financial down turn in the housing market it will be interesting if these houses go ahead in the near future. Some building sites are being mothballed. Partially completed houses are being "offered" to housing associations for rent as "social" housing.

Distance from Love street to Glasgow International airport = <1 mile. Possible entry point for bogus asylum seekers and economic migrants - Glasgow International airport. Who will the (completed) houses get allocated to if they are "social" houses??... GO FIGURE!!

Amazing amount of rubbish delivered on this thread! But seeing as its a free country...
Immigrants will not risk all to head to a place to risk alienation and start-over and put their families through it all if they don't see opportunity. The opportunity offered by a taxpayer funded, social worker led, touchy-feely, political correctness infatuated public sector but more inportantly (and tellingly)opportunit

I just hope the property developers of Love Street aren't too badly affected by the credit crunch. The chance of expecting a certain percentage of affordable housing there is probably asking too much, mores the pity.
Also, with any luck now that Tesco has opened its Metro store on Dumbarton Road, Partick - it will ditch its ludicrous plans to build its store on the huge Beith Street site at the rear of Dumbarton Road.
The grounds for objections there have all been mentioned countless times, and level of public feeling against it has been clear to see.
Lets just hope Tesco are recognising the inappropriacy of some of it's land mass sites.
As, waiting 5 years or more with a site lying empty, unused whilst Tesco waits to get Planning Permission, or is rejected several times before successful should be a key indicator to Tesco realising they are not wanted, or appropriate in some areas.

No sell off = no St Mirren.
Not dripping with the romance of yester years footballing culture I'll give you but clubs like St Mirren have to do what they have to do in order to survive. The sell off has allowed them to clear their debt and move to a shiney new home.
This gives them the best chance to remain as a long serving football club.

The site that Tesco propose and own, is across the road fom their former 1970/80's store, in the Wallneuk industrial estate. Their original Paisley store which became a DIY warehouse for 20 odd years has recently become vacant again after Focus DIY moved out in the spring of 2008.
