Another PC brigade story. Anyone REALLY care?
Can`t help thinking about the Moslem RAF pilot who refused to fight on "religious" grounds. Or the "Asian" policewoman who made a career of complaining and sueing.

Exactly they should be viewed as any other police offioer. Are they better because they are Asian? is this why they get the press? Now your demeaning the remainder of the recruits.

Firstly, it's not so uncommon for stories about twins entering the same jobs at the same time to make the pages of a local newspaper.
Secondly. As for the stupid racist (judging people because of the actions of others only because they share a skin colour is racist) comment above... well, says more about the poster than anyone else.

I think this is a worthwhile story. Most of the coverage of British Asians seem to relate to terrorism and how they don't fit in. And that's part of the picture. But it's only a small (if over-exposed) part - this is another part of the jigsaw and an aid to balance. And they're twins, which makes for a good human interest story.

"Moslem" is an accepted spelling of the word.
Fine they have joined the Police .... so why did the ET and the police highlight the fact that they are Asian?
Why is there this massive drive to make the policeforce "ethnically diverse"? Best PERSON for the job, rings a bell.
Don`t claim the "doll" or even the DOLE.
Narrow minded? Might interest you to know my late father in law was a Moslem and a naturalised Pakistani.
That makes my kids of part asian descent ....... NOW, explain to me how I`m racist??????????????
?????

WTF is a "British Asian"?????? They are either one or the other.
As for balance ............ thats a joke when the second highest copper in the country is suing the force for racial discrimination, and the 3rd highest was threatening to sue because he was exposed as a slum landlord.

Although the WORD "catholic" could be used as meaning "universal".
The point is, when the Police and politicians are trying to stamp out (quite rightly), religious and sectarian intollerance, these groups are allowed to operate.
Imagine the outcry if there was a White Police Officers Guild!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or do you have evidence that these Officers will fail to fulfil their duty because of their religious background (whatever it may be) or that they will make "a career of complaining and sueing"?
Or was that just something that someone else with brown skin did?

And also to point out that there have been many instances of people either refusing conscription or refusing to carry out orders while in the military because of conscientious objection based on their Christian beliefs.
Not just Moslems then.

Pete, I salute your indefatigibility! Some of these posters are too thick/racist to bother even trying to convince.
And yes, that was an observation AND a judgement.

Don't go all George Galloway on me, please.
These young women have barely started their jobs and they're already on the recieving end. Only 30 years of it to go. Good luck.

I totally agree with your comments. I do think this is news, if only because twins are always interesting & I think anyone who is not a male WASP is extremely brave to join the police (because of institutional bigotry first & external bigotry second).

Why are the local people to be discriminated against?

In the backshop of my little cafe in Glasgow's southside, I learned a lot about the police from the day-shift officers who regularly came in for their tea and biscuit. The was never any mention of recism, but I did learn that it was force policy not to have immediate family members serving at the one time in the ranks. The justification was that, in time, one would be promoted and show favour to the less-able sibling. But the, with a lowering of standards,
and a national government as role-models,anything in the police is acceptable to achieve political correctness.

So, Aneas... you're saying that these people didn't get there on merit?
Ah Spamalot, you never fail to entirely meet our low expectation of you.
