AN EMACIATED dog is recovering in a care centre after being found abandoned on an Ayrshire beach.

The female lurcher was found at Ayr on Sunday with every bone in her body "clearly visible", SSPCA officers said.

The eighteen-month-old dog, named Honey by the charity's staff, was taken to a vet, where she was given fluids and is now receiving treatment in a care centre.

Kerry Kirkpatrick of the charity said: "Honey is severely underweight."
