A NEW respite and short break centre for children and young people with disabilities has opened.

Buttercups House, in St Mary's Road, Bishopbriggs, will offer short breaks for up to three people at a time.

The project, involving East Dunbartonshire Council and the Mungo Foundation, has taken 18 months to develop.

The centre was opened by Capital Radio DJ Garry Spence, from Bishopbriggs, who said it was an "incredibly uplifting and happy place."

The Drivetime presenter added: "I'm really excited about the use of music and other therapeutic activities which are planned for the children and young people at Buttercups House."
