Part of an axed bus service is running again after a community campaign.
The No 11 service between Robroyston and Parkhall was cut back in the evenings and weekends.
As reported in the Evening Times in October, First wanted to reduce its carbon footprint on the route – which travels via the city centre and Anniesland – because it doesn’t carry many passengers.
It was cut at the weekends from every 20 minutes to half-hourly and axed completely between the city centre and Clydebank after 7pm.
But community leaders said locals relied on the service, especially in Kelvindale in the West End.
Glasgow North MP Ann McKechin and Anniesland MSP Bill Butler launched a campaign to get First to put the service back on, and a petition they started was signed by 800 people.
Now the route between Clydebank and the city centre will be resumed every hour after 7pm.
Ms McKechin said: “I am delighted we’ve won and the No 11 has been saved. Kelvindale can take pride in the fact that our petition has won the day.
“This decision shows that when we fight back together, we can protect our community when it stands to lose out.
“I am proud to say the No 11 is back – thanks to passengers themselves.”
Mr Butler said: “It is a welcome victory for people power.
“It’s also important we acknowledge the role played by SPT in supporting this restored service and the Evening Times in highlighting the campaign.”
A spokeswomen for First Glasgow said: “By working in close partnership with SPT and with local communities and their elected representatives, we are pleased to report a full evening service on route 11 will be restored from February 7.”
