Arria arises as giant statue takes shape in Cumbernauld

The final sections of a giant steel sculpture which aims to help transform Cumbernauld have been moved into place.

The 33ft (10 metre) tall sculpture, which includes a female form and two swooping arcs, overlooks the A80 near Auchenkilns junction.

The head, torso and arms of the figure were expected to be fixed into position last night, completing the sculpture, called Arria.
