SINGER and ex-Glasgow student Emeli Sandé is celebrating being given an honorary degree.
The star, whose hits include Heaven and Next to Me, was given the award from Glasgow University, where she studied neuroscience between 2006 and 2009.
The 26-year-old was one of nine people, including to receive honorary degrees as part of the university's annual Commemoration Day celebrations in the Bute Hall yesterday.
Emeli was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the music industry.
She has had three UK No1 singles and performed at last year's opening and closing ceremonies at the London Olympics.
Her debut album Our Version of Events remained top of the UK album charts for 63 weeks, breaking the record previously held by The Beatles.
