Pop fans are racing to snap up the last few tickets for a double dose of outdoor concerts.

Thousands of tickets have been sold for open air concerts by boy bands The Wanted and Westlife, who will take to the stage at Hamilton Park Racecourse.

Both acts will attract thousands of fans to the arena when The Wanted perform on Friday, July 22, and Westlife the following day.

A spokesman for the South Lanarkshire racecourse today, said: "Tickets are in big demand. Thousands have already been sold but there are still some available."

The rush for tickets comes as Hamilton Park chiefs make the most of June by hosting five meetings, with two meets boasting a mix of competitive horse racing, live music and business networking.

This afternoon was the Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce Raceday, which allowed local businessmen and women to network.

Next Wednesday is the course's Summer Party Night.

Racing on the day will be brought to life by Channel 4's Derek Thompson while revellers can get into party mood courtesy of the Super Kool tribute band and Michael Buble tribute act Kevin Rodgers.

Racecourse chief Vivien Kyles, said: "June will be a tremendously exciting month at Hamilton Park with great variety in our five fixtures and heaps of entertainment to complement the racing.

"There really is something for everyone, and with more top class fixtures on the horizon – not to mention The Wanted and Westlife performing at Hamilton Park at our standalone events in July – the excitement and anticipation is building by the day."

July offers a triple treat for music fans.

A family night with stars from last year's X Factor is being staged on Saturday, July 9, when pint sized singer Joe McElderry – 2009's winner – will perform along with two of the show's 2010 finalists, Katie Waissel and Paije Richardson.
