BRAVE models are swapping the catwalk for red hot coals to raise money for vulnerable children.

Fashion in Flames will see the runway transformed into a firewalk at Glasgow's Barras Market.

Organisers of the showcase will exhibit designs from city-based fashion duo, Obscure Couture, on the models.

All proceeds will go to Action for Children Scotland, which has several projects in the city helping vulnerable and neglected youngsters and other young people.

The models will be supplied by Superior Model Management - and they will walk on coals burning at 1500C.

The firewalk, which is being organised by Brian Costello of Headstrong, will be set up within the Barras Art and Design Centre.

Brian said: "We are excited to be involved with this project. As if seeing people walking bare foot on fire isn't enough, the addition of the incredible clothes, the lights and the opportunity to raise a whole heap of money for children is hugely inspirational.

"The models who walk the fire will only be on the fire for a matter of seconds however the kids that Action For Children help face their own personal firewalks every day and it's only through our support and assistance that we can help them to the other side."

Jenn Coyle and Lyndsay Pagan launched their label Obscure Couture in 2010.

Jenn said: "We are excited to be involved with the Fashion in Flames event with a catwalk on hot coals, where we showcase a selection of couture and ready-to-wear pieces from our collection A Weekend in Hell and highlights from our spring/summer 2014 collection."

Sponsors for the night include Inner Ear, Pocapoc, Loch Ness Brewery and BAaD.

Action for Children Scotland delivers 80 services across the country.

Carol Iddon, director of children's services at the charity in Scotland, added: "The money raised will fund our work with the most vulnerable children, young people and families in Scotland.

"We are very grateful to Obscure Couture and the sponsors of this exciting event for their support and wish the models the very best of luck with the burning catwalk."

Tickets for the event on Saturday May 17 cost £15, or £25 for a front row seat and goody bag.
