Shelter Scotland warned that while payday loans may seem like a "quick fix" for those struggling to pay bills, the high interest rates could lead to them facing eviction.
Gordon MacRae, the housing and homeless charity's head of communications and policy, spoke out after a survey found that 2% of people had taken out a payday loan to help with housing costs, and 15% had used an unauthorised overdraft, credit card, loan or payday loan for housing bills.
