MAJOR retailers in the centre of Glasgow are getting geared up for a bumper Christmas and are set to recruit hundreds of temporary workers.

A four-hour recruitment fair is being staged tomorrow at the St Enoch Centre, where up to 250 seasonal job opportunities are up for grabs.

Last year the St Enoch Working Recruitment Fair was swamped with more than 2000 job hunters and organisers reckon this year's event will be just as busy.

Leading retailers such as toys giant Hamleys, department store Debenhams, Hotel Chocolat, Mothercare, Fossil and Disney Store all need to recruit extra staff for the Festive rush.

The city mall's general manager, Anne Ledgerwood, said: "St Enoch Working makes an important contribution to Glasgow by creating new jobs and helping those seeking employment to find work.

"Retailers attending this year's fair have a wide variety of vacancies covering both part and full-time work."

The recruitment fair, being backed by Jobs & Business Glasgow, will be held outside Debenhams on the first floor of the centre between 11am and 3pm.

Potential recruits who can't attend tomorrow's event can register online at www.stenochworking.com or visit the St Enoch Working unit on the first floor of the mall.

The unit is open every week day between 9am-5pm.
