A BRUTAL boyfriend has been convicted of raping and throttling two of his girlfriends.

Ryan Strang, 26, from Provanmill, Glasgow, committed the offences between 2009 and 2012.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that with each woman Strang's behaviour followed a pattern.

He began by calling them derogatory names and then assaulted them and then raped them.

He was found guilty of raping each of the women, who are aged 22 and 24, on a single occasion.

Strang was also convicted of assaulting the 24-year-old to the danger of her life.

His victims said Strang was manipulative and controlling and could change in the click of a finger.

He was also found guilty of kicking another woman, who is now 25.

Strang was also accused of raping her in 2003, but the jury found the case not proven.

One of the rape victims said: "I said I didn't want sex and he was smirking."

The woman was so terrified of Strang that during one of the beatings he inflicted on her she told the court she tried to jump out of a window to get away from him.

In evidence Strang denied all the allegations against him.

He said the women were lying because he had cheated on them.

Advocate depute Jane Farquharson, prosecuting, asked him: "All three women don't know each other, but they all say such similar things about you and the way you behave in a relationship, why would that be?"

Strang replied: "I don't know."

Miss Farquharson told the court Strang served a six-month sentence in 2009 for following the 24-year-old along a Glasgow street and threatening to murder her.

Judge Lord Armstrong told Strang: "You have been convicted of a number of serious offences against three separate women.

"One involved danger to the life of the young woman and you have also been found guilty of raping two of them."

Lord Armstrong called for a risk assessment to be prepared on Strang and said: "I need information about the risk you pose to the public at large and to women in particular."

He placed Strang on the Sex Offenders' Register and deferred sentence until next month.
