The presentation on Friday is a thank you to the firefighters who bravely tackled the blaze at the Renfrew Street Mackintosh building on May 23.

They fought the fire at the historic building for hours as smoke and flames shot out from the roof and upper floors.

There were also at the building for days afterwards to make sure it was safe.

Also this weekend, art school supporters are being asked to dig deep to raise money for the restoration of the Mackintosh building.

Becky Walker, of the Green Gallery in Buchlyvie, Stirlingshire, decided to hold a fundraising auction during the venue's annual Summer Fair on Saturday.

The sale will feature about 20 lots, including work by Myra MacGregor and Claire Harkess, as well as jewellery from the Fotheringham Gallery in Bridge of Allan.

She said: "We have worked with a lot of graduates over the years and after the fire I just thought, maybe we could do something to help them."

The sale is one of the first fundraisers after the blaze which, despite the firefighters' efforts, destroyed the iconic library as well as some of the final-year work of fine art students, who were preparing for their degree show.

Firefighters are believed to have managed to salvage about 70% of the contents but many students lost much of their work.

A massive clean-up operation has begun to help save priceless collections in the Mackintosh building.

Becky is hoping to make as much as £10,000 to support the work.

Buyers can visit to view the lots for sale and bids can be taken in advance, as well as on the phone.
