FIRMS are queueing up to move into a multi-million pound Glasgow office block which won't be ready for two years.

Construction on the 10-storey building has only just got under way but already a number of companies are thinking about renting space.

This is the first image of what the £60million landmark block will look like when work is completed by the spring of 2015. It will tower over neighbouring buildings in West Regent Street and sit next to the old art deco Odeon Cinema complex in Renfield Street.

The office will offer 143,000sq ft of floor space and is a speculative development by investors with Mountgrange Real Estate Opportunity Fund and M&G Real Estate.

The London partners have hired construction giant Sir Robert McAlpine to build what will be the first Grade A office block in Glasgow's Central Business District in more than five years.

They say it will rival anything found elsewhere in the UK and will be one of the city's "greenest" buildings.

A spokeswoman for the developers said: "We have had an encouraging level of early inquiries."

The building is expected to generate interest from retailers.

Director Alison Taylor, of letting agent GVA and Jones Lang LaSalle, said: "The predicted shortage of Grade A space in Glasgow is encouraging occupiers to consider available pre-letting opportunities."
