THE first owners of properties in the Athletes' Village have been presented with their keys.

Earlier this year, tenants moved into the 400 homes belonging to Glasgow housing associations.

And over the next few months, the 300 private properties in the East End development will be handed over to the new owners.

Among the first to get the key to the door were Seth Thompson and his partner Judy Chan, both 29, who have bought a three bedroom terraced house.

Seth first heard about The Village when he was studying for his undergraduate degree in sports and active lifestyle promotion at Glasgow Caledonian University.

He wrote a case study on The Village in 2011 as part of one of assignments and at the same time registered an interest on the City Legacy website.

As keen sports fans they were initially attracted to the development as it was going to be part of the Commonwealth Games, but both Seth and Judy were also interested in the eco-friendly and sustainable aspects of the houses.

Seth said: "We had been living in a small one bedroom flat in Dennistoun so we were looking forward to living in a house with a little bit more space and at least one spare bedroom so we can have friends and family over to stay.

"Our kitchen was so small in our last flat that we couldn't both fit in it, so cooking meals together was a little cramped.

"We also can't wait to have a little bit of outdoor space, so if the weather is nice in the summer we can just sit outside and relax, or invite our friends over for a barbeque."
