FIVE people were taken to hospital after two cars collided during a midnight crash.
Fire crews were called to the site at East Holmes Farm in Hurlford, East Ayrshire around 12.25am today.
One of the cars had careered down a nearby embankment, with three people trapped inside.
The second car, carrying two people, remained on the road and fire fighters worked to move it to safety.
Two crews were sent from Kilmarnock station, while another arrived from Dreghorn and a heavy rescue vehicle was sent from Easterhouse to help.
After the drivers and passengers were safely removed from the cars, they were all taken to Crosshouse hospital for treatment.
A specialist trauma doctor was on hand along with paramedics and staff from the Special Operations Response Team to treat any casualties.
