Lord Provost Sadie Docherty joined members of the military for the ceremony.
The ceremony signalled the start of the city's annual Armed Forces Day celebration, which will take place in George Square on Sunday June 29.
The Lord Provost said: "Glasgow's Armed Forces Day is always a wonderful occasion.
"Our city's reputation for supporting our veterans and serving and future military personnel is well known.
"Every year Glasgow puts on a great show and we are always delighted to welcome the armed forces and their families to our city for a day of celebration."
A parade, led by the Band of HM Royal Marines Scotland, will march off from Holland Street at 2pm and follow a route along West Regent Street, West George Street and around George Square. The Lord Provost, in her capacity as Lord Lieutenant, will take the salute.
Activities will include military vehicles, mobile and static displays, information stands and there will be performances from That Swing Sensation, featuring the Kennedy Cup Cakes singers, The Poppy Girls and The Waterfront.
