A FREE family day is being held on Saturday to encour-age children to read more to improve their literacy.
Shettleston library will host a range of activities for youngs-ters including arts and crafts, games and giveaways.
The hope is that young people will be persuaded to pick up a book and find out what their library offers.
Staff will hand out 50 free copies of the first in Jeff Kinney's popular series Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
The family day, from noon until 4pm, is part of a Just Read camp-aign which is trying to get children reading from an early age.
It is also encouraging parents and carers to take at least 10 minutes every day to read to their children.
Archie Graham, chairman of Glasgow Life, said: "Glasgow libraries operate at the heart of the city's communities and it is important we do everything we can to help young people in Glasgow develop strong reading skills.
"This is a great day of fun activities and the event is a fantastic opportunity to help teach our youngsters the value and enjoy-ment of a good book."
