ASPIRING Time Lords could be about to be regenerated - a city Tardis has been put up for rent.

Doctor Who fans have been given the chance to lease their very own police box in the middle of one of Glasgow's busiest streets.

Despite being a red Tardis, a city businessman is hoping the unusual property in Sauchiehall Street will re-materialise as a street cafe or kiosk.

He has posted an advert on a popular classified ads website looking to secure a tenant who will swap cops for coffee ... or even ice-cream cones.

The advert describes the Tardis as a "rarely available" property.

It reads: "Iconic Gilbert MacKenzie Trench design Police Signal Box, known by many as a Tardis.

"Situated in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, opposite Buchanan Galleries.

"Other boxes are currently used as street cafés, coffee kiosk, ice cream kiosks and sandwich shops."

The police boxes were a common sight across the country when they were used by the public to contact the emergency services.

They are now best known for being the disguise for Dr Who's famous time machine.

It is believed the city centre site could be used for a variety of purposes, including a street cafe, kiosk or takeaway.

In 2011, the Buchanan Street police box was given a new lease of life and transformed into an ice-cream shop.

At one time, it was home to a tiny coffee stand.
