VICTIMS of cancer brought on by exposure to asbestos can apply for compensation worth an average of £123,000 from next month.
Around 3500 sufferers of mesothelioma, who can't trace a liable employer or an employers' liability insurer, will be able to apply for a share of a £380m UK government package.
Phyllis Craig, of Clydeside Action on Asbestos, said: "It is of the utmost importance that those with mesothelioma, who are unable to trace their employers, have recourse to the maximum amount of compensation."
