POLICE are hunting a gang who attacked a man in North Ayrshire.
Four thugs set upon the 48-year-old man in Lynn Avenue, Dalry at around 10.30pm on Wednesday.
He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where he was treated for a head injury.
Police are understood to be following a positive line of inquiry, but appealed to anyone in the area at the time to contact them.
Officers were also gathering CCTV images in a bid to identify the four men.
Detective Sergeant John Deans, of Police Scotland, said: "There is no motive for this attack or reason for why this man was targeted by the four men involved.
"It's imperative we trace them.
"I am appealing to anyone who may have seen something, or to anyone who was in the area and who may have seen the attack, or the four men running off following the attack."
