A GIRL from Airdrie has been rewarded by a national youth information agency by getting to meet the face behind Gary: Tank Commander.

Rebecca Leishman, 18, enjoyed an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour with Greg McHugh, the creator, writer and star of the BBC1 comedy as part of the agency's innovative Young Scot Rewards platform.

Young Scot, the youth information agency for Scotland introduced the scheme, which encourages young people to participate in activities that will benefit their personal development.

They collect points on their Young Scot National Entitlement Card (NEC) by taking part in a variety of activities.

Rebecca clocked up her points by attending events at her 16+ Learning Hub in Airdrie, which supports young people into training and employment.

She said: "I really like Young Scot Rewards because you get to meet your favourite celebrities. I'm a massive Gary Tank Commander fan. I loved finding out how they made the show."
