Rangers goalkeeper Grant Adam, 20, is alleged to have committed the offence in the early hours of yesterday morning in the Merchant City area of Glasgow.

Adam has been a member of the Old Firm club since leaving school and is now the third-choice keeper for the team.

He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today, charged in connection with a breach of the peace aggravated by sectarianism.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said last night: "We can confirm a 20-year-old male has been charged in connection with an alleged sectarian breach of the peace, in relation to an incident in Ingram Street on Sunday November 6."
