Glasgow council rebels in bid to set up own party

A NEW party could be set up by rebel Labour councillors in Glasgow to contest the May elections.

Councillors who quit the party last week are preparing to start a rival party – provisionally called Glasgow Labour.

The city's ruling Labour administration managed to push through its £2.3billion spending plans for 2012-13 on Thursday by just two votes – 40 to 38.
