THE secret weapon behind Pippa Middleton's pert bottom has finally arrived in Glasgow.

West End day spa The Residence has installed £80,000 worth of specialist equipment, making it the largest and best equipped reformer pilates studio in Scotland.

The fitness craze, which involves performing body conditioning and strengthening moves on a special bed, is loved by the Duchess of Cambridge's sister.

It is credited for creating Pippa's toned bum, which stole the show at Prince William and Kate's royal wedding in April 2011.

The fitness craze is popular with a long list of celebrities, includ-ing Andy Murray, Tiger Woods, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna.

The Residence, a 6000sq ft four-storey townhouse in Park Circus Place, set up the new equipment just two weeks ago.

Sarah-Jane Walls, managing director and owner of the facility, which also provides yoga classes, said there are 11 reformer beds.

The 41-year-old said: "We took over the building in August 2011 and the refurbishment took a year.

"I wanted to make sure we had the reformer equipment because Scotland had nothing like this.

"I tried it in London in 2001 and since then I've been desperate to bring it to Glasgow.

"We've now got the biggest reformer pilates studio in Scotland and the north of England."

Reformer pilates expert Lisa Jones, who joined the team at the Glasgow gym, said: "I have been teaching it for more than 10 years.

"Pilates is great for your body because it gets deeper into the muscle and helps you get a longer and leaner body.

"But the crux of this is the stabilising bed which takes it to another level and produces even better results – and quickly.

"It brings the whole exercise full circle because your body is working against something instead of using no equipment."

Group and individual classes will be available as part of The Resid-ence's membership schemes, which start at £69.95 per month.

Gym goers can get three pilates reformer classes with an induction for £30 until the end of this month.

Sarah added: "It's amazing and results are quick. We are offering both classes and one-to-one sessions and expect high demand and lots of pert bottoms in Glasgow this summer."
